Clean Area Rug or Buy A New One?
This is a common question we hear some of our customers ask us. It usually is regarding inexpensive rugs. Sometimes the cleaning of one of those rugs is almost equal to what the rug originally cost. Cleaning oriental rugs and other area rugs is a much different cleaning process than regular carpet. It takes more time and a gentler, hands on approach so it will cost more to have it professionally cleaned. If you love your rug and it has sentimental memories to you…. and…. it also goes with the decor of the room…. it is in then well worth it to just have it cleaned. The money, time and effort into finding another rug to match the decor will most likely end up being more.

Great post. The question on whether to clean or buy an area rug is one that I always get as well. Many customers don’t know if their rug is wool or synthetic and are sometimes shocked at how much it costs to clean an area rug. Many area rugs are a work of art that happens to be on the floor, and just throwing away a piece of art is not an option.

Agree to the fact that you have sentiment attached to the rug but if its maintenance is done properly and with care, it will not get dirty ver soon. The main problem is that most people doesn’t know about the actual process of cleaning of rugs.

Vacuum your area rug regularly. This prevents dirt from building up. Vacuuming your area rug regularly helps to keep your home clean and allergy free. To get the maximum amount of dirt out turn your rug upside down first and vacuum the back of the rug. This looses deep down dirt to the top of the fibers. To avoid getting frayed edges and worn fringes do not vacuum over the edges of your area rug. It is best to use suction only on Wool area rugs, using a rotating brush/beater bar sucks up the little fibers of wool.^
